The Royal Liverpool
University Hospital
By car
When you reach Liverpool via the M62, keep driving straight, along Edge
Lane. If you wish to park your car in the patient's car park at the
rear of the hospital, ignore any signs prompting you to turn right to
reach the hospital; these lead you to the main entrance off Prescot
Street, where there is no car park, except for disabled drivers. Instead,
when you reach a T junction, turn left into Towerlands Stand then immediately
right to reach West Derby Street. The entrance to the rear hospital
car park at West Derby Street is just beyond the traffic lights, on
the right hand side of the street.
If the hospital
car park is full, there is an NCP car park in Daulby Street. Alternatively,
you may wish to park your car in a private car park, located to the
right of the entrance to the rear hospital car park.
By bus
The following buses stop at the main entrance in Prescot Street:
9, 9d, 10, 10a, 10b,11,111, 12,13,14, 91, 100, 125, F3, F4, F5, F8 and
F9.
The following buses
stop at Daulby Street, about 200 metres from the main entrance:
78a, 87, 177.
The Hilsborough
Suite
If you introduce yourself to the security officer at the security office
at the main entrance to the hospital you will be taken to the Hilsborough
suite and shown how to use all the facilities.
The outpatient
clinic
From the main entrance
If you enter the main entrance you will find yourself in the large entrance
hall. The ophthalmic outpatient clinic is reached by a corridor at the
far left corner of the main entrance hall.
Entrance to corridor leading to outpatient clinic, ward 8x, and daycase
unit
The entrance to
the outpatient clinic is on the right hand side of the corridor, just
after leaving the main hall.
From
the side entrance
If you walk to the hospital building from the rear car park, you will
first reach the side entrance.
To reach the outpatient
clinic from the side entrance, walk along the straight corridor, past
the ophthalmic day case unit and the ophthalmic theatre to your right.
After about 30 metres, you will reach the entrance to the xyz lift area,
which will be to your right.
Turn left to reach
the outpatient clinic. Signposts should help you along your way. Look
out for the yellow and red logo.
The day ward
From the main entrance
Walk past the eye outpatient clinic and the xyz lifts then along the
rear corridor towards the side entrance. The day case unit is the last
door on your left.
From the side
entrance
On entering the side entrance, the entrance to the day case unit is
the first door to your right.
Ward 8x
Take the xyz lift to the 8th floor and follow the wall signs to reach
the ward.
